Back in the U.K.
Back in the UK I developed paintings (on canvas) in the studio from my work in Iceland and also worked with Dominic Smith editing film.
For various reasons, this work seemed to go much slower – because the residency situation is without distractions (certainly); because I am working in oils (perhaps), because I’m editing a film (occasionally), and because, once home, I get diverted by other activities (definitely).
The different timescale of the work process means that a single work can become a vehicle for other concerns. These concerns are often connected o to current affairs. I’m not sure if this is a good or a bad thing? There is a selection below: –
- THE AUCTION
In November 2017 Newcastle University asked me to produce some postcard size artworks for their Fine Art Auction. The proceeds go towards the funding of the student degree show. The degree show will open on June 1st 2018 at 6pm. The below were rapidly created for the Fine Art Postcard Auction. I bought one.
